The Easiest Way to Clean a Concrete Driveway

Has it been a while since you’ve taken care of your concrete driveway? If so, it may be stained or have lost its shine. This can have an effect on your home’s curb appeal, as well as its practicality. After all, no one wants to drag a recently washed car into a driveway covered in debris.

There are several different ways to clean a concrete driveway, and we’re going to show you a few that are super easy below.

Pressure Washing

One of the best ways to clean a concrete driveway is to pressure wash it. You’ll need a pressure washer that’s powerful enough to remove dirt, stains, and other build-ups from the surface of the concrete.

Pressure washing is the most effective way to clean concrete, and it’ll also save you time and effort. You can view affordable and good-quality pressure washers here.

Preparation Is Key

Preparation is critical when it comes to cleaning a concrete driveway with a pressure washer. First, you’ll need to clear any debris from the driveway’s surface. Next, you’ll need to pre-treat any stains with a degreaser or cleaner designed for concrete.

Once you’ve pre-treated the stains, you can begin pressure washing the driveway. Start by using a low-pressure setting and working your way up to a higher setting. Be sure to hold the pressure washer nozzle at least 12 inches from the surface of the concrete while you’re cleaning.

Using a Garden Hose

The easiest way to do driveway cleaning is to use a garden hose with a spray attachment. First, soak the entire driveway with water. Then, starting at one end, use the hose to spray the concrete in a back-and-forth motion.

Be sure to overlap each spray to avoid missing any spots. Next, use a stiff-bristled brush to scrub the concrete. Finally, rinse the driveway with clean water.

Taking Care of Tough Stains

Once you have the power washer, start by mixing a detergent with the water in the tank. Then, start at one end of the driveway and work your way to the other, using a back and forth motion. Be sure to keep the tip of the power washer several inches above the surface of the concrete, so you don’t damage it.

After you’ve gone over the entire driveway, turn off the power washer and let the detergent sit for a few minutes. Then, turn the power washer back on and rinse off the detergent. You may need to go over the driveway a few times to get all of the detergents off.

Once you’re finished, you should have a clean and stain-free concrete driveway!

Clean a Concrete Driveway Correctly

When you clean a concrete driveway, you’re also improving your home’s curb appeal. Sweep it to remove debris, and hose it down as needed. For tougher stains, use a power washer or a concrete cleaner. Regular maintenance will keep your driveway looking great for years to come.
